The SkaSouls have renamed and are now The Pirrips.

Not much else has changed, they’re still the same crazy, energetic bunch that you’ve known for the last eight years…

THE PIRRIPS is the culmination of eight years, 300 live performances and 3000 copies of two albums sold.

Band members Lee, Nick, Allan, Huw, Andy and Dave were originally The SkaSouls, a band known for its highly energetic live performances of Ska, Reggae and Rocksteady, and through the power of social media, the band has amassed an impressive following, including a sizeable number of fans in Venezuela!

Over the years an increasing number of very-well received and highly popular original tunes were added to their repertoire, and with the completion of an album of all original music in early 2018, THE PIRRIPS was born.

The history that brought these six musicians to this point ensures that THE PIRRIPS arrives with substance, and with the August release of their debut album, ‘All At Sea’, they continue with spirit and style.

Receiving widespread praise and critical acclaim wherever they perform, these six musicians have created a sound unique from other live bands. Borrowing styles and songs from the past greats, they have managed to rekindle the sweat and passion so necessary for real live performance, and have established an outstanding reputation and an impressive following. The Pirrips have rediscovered the formula to ignite the music scene once again; with immense levels of energy in their performances, leaving onlookers amazed by the sheer personality of the band’s on-stage presence.

No sampled sounds here! The original sounds and mixes from the Jamaican ska and rocksteady of the 60’s and 70’s (Toots & The Maytals, Desmond Dekker, Justin Hinds, Symarip etc) are perfectly merged with the urban ska standards of the late 70’s and early 80’s (Specials, Bad Manners, Madness etc) and contemporary sounds of the likes of Rancid and Paolo Nutini. The Pirrips also have a growing catalog of their own original material and in August 2018, they released their long awaited all-original album, ‘All At Sea’.

Endeavouring to keep energy levels sky-high, each live show is different from the last, with the interaction on-stage, and between band and audience always hugely entertaining and something to enjoy. It’s with good reason that so many of The Pirrips gigs completely sell out to capacity.

Come and check out The Pirrips, you’ll be glad you did!
