World Cup football fixture with the flags of Norway and England on 11 JUL at 10pm BST

Football World Cup

Saturday 11th July 2026 10pm to late, Function Hall

Norway v England has history. With the Vikings and without any footballs Norway’s 250 years of away victory ended at the battle of Stamford Bridge (the real one not Chelsea’s place).

Without the Vikings and with footballs it has been 89 years of Norway playing England 12 times and winning 2. Of those 8 were friendlies which Norway lost while the 4 others were World Cup matches with Norway winning twice, drawing once, and losing once.

Anyone noticed that the secret of success against Norway is to let them know the match is a friendly?

The teams will be playing in the Hard Rock stadium in Miami, simply known as the Miami Stadium for the World Cup. This is strictly open air with no closing roof making weather a participant – expect 32C, sunny and 72% humidity.

That’s great weather for cricket, less so for football and fairly intense for trying to row the entire stadium a few feet (Emil Lappen apart, who observed that the Vikings travelled under sail across oceans so wisely doesn’t bother).

Come on England!
